Gas prices are only going to get worse as long as Iran controls the strait of hormuz, which Trump can’t realistically do anything about without sending in thousands of troops and causing all kinds of deaths. Trump keeps saying they are negotiating, while Iran is saying no we aren’t negotiating and it's clear we have no idea if the US is even negotiating with the right people. Meanwhile, we are flying around billion dollar jets to shoot down $100,000 drones with million dollar missiles.
It’s clear that Iran is quite happy to draw this out as long as possible and why not? Iran isn’t going to help Trump get out of this when he’s the one that started it and is getting absolutely fucked by it in the polls.

They were telling him to ignore the Generals about the 'risk'. They warned about 'risk' in Venezuala and look how that turned out for you.
And Trump being stupid, bought it. He was reported to say Iran would agree to a deal before any action on the Strait would be taken. He was so certain he was not even interested in engaging in talks with Generals about trying to secure the Strait or counter any threats.
