US gas hits $4 as Trump tells nations to get their own oil

@Noking doesn't realize that most states are actually below $4/gallon yet (only about a dozen of them are above that mark).
That's why I asked him where.

Those States (and the SDTC) tax the hell out of a gallon of gasoline. This makes the price you pay considerably higher than the price of the gasoline.

For example, here in Washington, approximately $1.12 in taxes are levied on a gallon of gasoline (combining all taxes). In places like King and Snohomish counties, they add an additional $0.30, bring the total to $1.42/gal is just taxes. There are also steep taxes on required replacement of tanks, and taxes on the fuel trucks. This is why you see $6/gal gas instead of $3.50, for example.

Costco is cheaper, about $4.60/gal or so, because they buy large amounts of gasoline in bulk, so the cost of the taxes on the trucks is less.

In the SDTC, it's even worse. If you are in the Bay Area (San Francisco and environs) or the Los Angeles area, you can expect to pay even more for the damn taxes.

A hefty portion of these is the Climate Tax.

People act like drones are the be all end all of technology and Iran can have control of Hormuz forever.

Brits have the dragonfire for ships
Israel has Iron Beam for static defense
US has Bullfrog AFV and Super Tucano aircraft for offense
Ukraine has special shotguns for their soldiers

It just so happens that we are in the transition phase where drones are still ahead. These weapons are already in field testing. Were talking months not years before we see the first one deployed.

Its not like drones require a new tech solution. AA already exists we just need to make it faster and track better for swarms and develop laser tech.

Correct. If it wasn't open, then ships wouldn't be able to sail through it, and ships ARE sailing through it, so it IS open.

The only thing stopping any given ship from sailing through it is fear.
it is open as a toll road being controlled by Iran and if you are a nation friendly with Iran or willing to pay the Oil Toll they are demanding they allow you pass thru.

That is new power and significant one Trump gave Iran that gives them more leverage over the world than they had prior to his war.

How Does that work?

Bingo.

Yeah, that's just nuts. I'd hate to be paying that much in taxes for a gallon of gas. Here in Wisconsin, it's nowhere near that bad (we're "average" when it comes to gas taxes). Here, gas is taxed $0.513/gallon. This amount consists of the $0.184 federal tax, a $0.309 state excise tax, and a $0.02 petroleum inspection fee, so it's really only $0.329/gal in state taxes.

In my neck of the woods, Kwik Trip (incl. the particular local station that I use to track gas prices) is playing their stupid game atm in which they jack gas prices up for a few days just for the heck of it (which they then bring back down a number of days later), so that station is currently at $3.899/gallon, however, at the local Woodmans (and the local Costco), gas is currently $3.499/gallon, which is right in line with where gas prices were here ON AVERAGE during about 75% of the Autopen's illegitimate term.

Ugh.... completely NUTTERS they are.....

Here's the latest

Energy costs: The average US gas price hit $4 a gallon, the highest since 2022. The war in Iran has essentially shut down oil tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump decries allies: US President Donald Trump demanded the UK and other countries in need of jet fuel go to Hormuz and “just TAKE IT.” The UK announced it is sending additional air defense systems to Persian Gulf nations to support the “collective defense of allies.”

^Too invested in "Orange Man Bad" to realize every president since Ford should have done this.
Know what's not happening, knucklehead? Gas lines and 1/2 tank rationing in America.
It IS happening in China, though. As a matter of fact, Iran attacked a tanker bound for China.

Good morning.
My last post was to one of the stupidest people on this forum . Into the night.
He's one of the smartest people on this forum. YOU are one of the stupidest.
I don't know where he lives but he doesn't believe gas is over $4 a gallon.
That's not what he said, FlipTheBird... In fact, he even explained why gas prices are so much MORE than $4/gallon in Washington.

Even though the national average has now hit $4/gallon, gas is UNDER $4/gallon in the vast majority of states, including my state of Wisconsin.
I guess he doesn't get out of his mothers cellar very often.
I guess you don't think very often at all.

Well you see since Iran is in drone range of Hormuz they get to charge a toll.

This means that Afghanistan also in drone range gets to charge a toll. Pakistan. GCC. Hell Israel can send an f35 to destroy tankers so they should get a cut too.
