Michelle Obama thinks being America’s First Lady is ‘hell’

Exactly what part of being the first lady would you consider heavenly?

Maybe you think having your every move and choice scutinized would be fun?

Perhaps the complete lack of privacy sounds like fun?

I guess having your family's every move criticized would a laugh for you?



don't get me wrong, i am not defending Obama or any other poliical figure. But if you think being the first lady is a great job, you are delusional.

If you think Obama is in over his head & doing a bad job, that's a fine reason for thinking he should be a 1 termer.

If you think he should be a 1 termer because Michelle made an offhand comment that being first lady is hell...that's just ridiculous.

While I don't know if heavenly would be the correct term but as first lady you have a huge opportunity to make big differences in people's lives. That part is cool.

I can quite imagine a lot of the rest that comes with it is not all that great.

While I think there is the potential to do some great stuff, it is also a minefield. In the political climate today, she will be blasted for almost anything.

Yes, she can bring awareness to a lot of things. Those she chooses will be grateful, and those she refuses will scream and whine. I'd bet the conservatives would broadcast the whining and ignore the gratitude.

I wouldn't want her job for all the tea in China.

Look at the crap that gets broadcast about her wardrobe, hair, and her private life? Nah, I would agree that its hell.

Imagine having a dozen media consultants and advisors having to clear virtually anything you do?
 
So, because a dude's wife is honest enough to admit she does not like the job, that means he should not be president?

I respect her honesty, do you really belive every other first lady had liked it?

I respect someone who does not like that job, no official work to do, all pomp and circumstance, and all about status!

If anyone is afraid to get "blasted" then politics is not for them (nor really is big time athletics, upper management etc.).

I wouldn't want the job either. However you do have lots of power, admiration and the chance to make big bucks once out of office. This obviously goes for any first lady not just Michelle.
 
Well, Carla Bruni seeking to publicise her book has made some claims in her book in order to sell her book.

This is something i'd definitely regard as an extremely trustworthy source.

You wife hating being first lady is a reason isn't it? I know most couples take there spouse into consideration on jobs.

I think its a factor that could effect the election yes. first time around she was the one motivating him into it.

It's so ironclad I'm personally going to base my decision regarding whom to vote for in the next presidential based entirely on what Ms. Bruni says in this here book.

He's already made his legacy two years into the job.

BTW, did you see the article? In the third picture Obama has his hand on Michelle's back. Where has French President Sarkozy placed his hand on his wife? :D

She chose to be First Lady...the better part of discretion is...well knowing how to use discretion. While First Lady she ought to keep the bitching about her position and her critics to herself. What is it with her and Barry with all the whining anyways???

It would be hell! Always having to watch what you say and do, seeing your husband, whom she is obviously crazy about, being called hideous names and accused of being a terrorist. I have felt bad for all first ladies, with the exception of Hillary Clinton and Eleanor Roosevelt, most other women only have the job because their husband was elected President and they agreed to that, but most don't want to be in the spot light. She also has young girls to raise and on top of that must do her other duties! It would be hell and I feel for her deeply, just as I did Laura Bush who always looks so uncomfortable in her role as 1st lady. Laura always seemed like such a private person, who also deeply loved her husband, and hated to see him criticized on a daily basis. It would be hell. It would be so stressful! I would hate it! I would end up saying worse things than this about the job and America! because I bet some people can be real UGLY to her and she just has to smile! I would go off on their asses! Then have them audited! It is one reason I could never be first lady ;*
