Obama Campaign Hawks Birth Certificate T-Shirt

Which campaign was it linked to? My guess is you've gone and found a button that didn't associate directly to any campaign. That would absolutely be a death knell for any campaign to produce.

It was linked to the Texas GOP anti-Obama campaign....the eventual loser hadn't been nominated yet, though.

..."the GOP-sponsored vendor's Web site, republicanmarket.com...

A quick glance by any Texas Republican staffer would have confirmed that, perhaps, it was not the best group to accept money from at a convention.

For $5, the GOP vendor allows you to mix and match a variety of racially charged, homophobic and sexist campaign buttons including, "Press 1 for English ... Press 2 for Deportation" and the anti-Hillary Clinton, "Life's a bitch ... don't vote for one" button.

A Texas Republican Party spokesperson told The Associated Press that vendors don't go through a vetting process for the right to sell items at the convention.

Yet media reports show that for years the Texas Republican Party has denied a booth to the Log Cabin Republicans, a group of gay Republicans, saying that homosexuality is not "an acceptable 'alternative' lifestyle" and sodomy should be criminalized.”

How's that square up with "We are what we repeatedly do?"

BTW, if you have any evidence that Obama personally selected the 'birth certificate' items mocking his racist detractors, post it.

So, no candidate approved it then? I get you. My guess is that candidates have control over their own campaigns. The idea that the candidate would allow their staff to push a message they disagreed with is a bit of nonsense that you've personally come up with in this thread.

Which candidate approved the items in the OP?

Whose campaign put the shirt out?

Are you claiming that because "the Obama campaign put the shirt out" he personally was involved, and that somehow detracted from his performance of his duties as president?

Yes, or no?

After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto...

I am stating that the candidate controls the message of their campaign, if Obama didn't want the shirt, they would not be producing them for long. If he believed that they were off-message they would quietly disappear, if he believed they hurt the campaign some campaign staff would likely lose their jobs.

Say, if I were in a campaign and some idiot on my staff produced the button you have above it would be detrimental to my campaign. I would have a huge public announcement of why I fired whomever put that button out in my name. It would likely be too late, and I should have kept more control over my staff to begin with, it would be a huge negative and likely would cause an election loss. It behooves candidates to approve/disapprove of ideas like that.

Yeah, I think at some point somebody put the idea to Obama who either said yea or nay to the whole idea.

Why? Do you think the shirts hurt his campaign?

Nope.

And your 'thinking' that Obama gave the matter any thought is specious.

Your belief that Obama wouldn't control the message of his own campaign is ridiculous.

I would like to know why you think that shirt would be somehow detrimental to his campaign. I am not quite getting where you are going in this thread. You seem to be defending the President by saying he has no control over decisions his campaign makes in his name against something you say won't hurt his campaign. It shows a drive to defend even when there is no need to defend. It's a bit ridiculous. Do you think he needs some "defense" in this case? If not, why are you trying to "defend"?

It appears the answer to my question (post 45) is apparently "no, apart from wishful thinking from his detractors, there's no indication whatsoever that the president was personally involved at all in this"?

Your belief that Obama agonizes over his campaign's imprinted items to the detriment of the performace of his duties is ridiculous.

Did I say the shirt (or the mugs) were deterimental?

Seems to me that's your position, shared with the Yurtard.

Nah, I think they are a great way for his campaign to make money. I wish I'd thought of it and sold it on my Cafe Press site.

Obama Campaign Hawks Birth Certificate T-Shirt

President Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign today started selling “Made in the USA” t-shirts featuring images of both President Obama and the long-form birth certificate he released copies of last month.

“Wear your support for this campaign with an official Made in the USA T-shirt,” his website advertises. Donate $25 or more today and we'll send you your limited-edition shirt.

Coffee-mugs are also available.

“Remember ‘fight the smears’ from the 2008 campaign?” asked campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt. “This is the mobile version of it.”

“Fight the Smears” was an Obama campaign website from 2008 that attempted to refute untruths about the campaign, such as the claim that then-Sen. Obama was a Muslim.

Did I ever say that because you believe in Christ that you must therefore be "perfect"?

No...that's just one more bullshit lie you will no doubt spend the next few weeks trying to spread.

But then I don't expect someone who can conveniently ignore his Christian teachings while he launches into another invective laced tirade to be above telling outright lies either.

Christ doesn't ask that you be "perfect" only that you treat others with respect...and since even that tiny request from your Lord and Savior is too much for you to handle, then the same goes for me too.

Now, tell me again how Jesus feels about your incessant vulgarity?

"We do not have time for this silliness," Obama had said in his televised comments, calling it a distraction from the real issues facing the nation. "We've got better stuff to do."

^ is the above statement true?

this is the third or fourth time i've posed the above question to you. why are you so afraid to answer a simple question?

and shut up about christianity...it is just a piss poor attempt by you to attack and deflect from the thread. now....are you going to man up and answer the question? because your failure to do so means that my point in this thread is correct, that obama is dumb for continuing to keep the message in the spotlight, when he said we don't have time for this silliness, we have more important things to do....well....that doesn't seem true as he has time to have his campaign continue making it an issue for his reelection....

since epic claims obama has no control over his campaign...what does that say about his leadership skills?

Nice thread Yurt.

you're welcome....perhaps in the future you could actually contribute to threads instead of trying to derail them. you're on a political message board, yet you rarely debate the issues, instead you focus most of your energy on attacking.

since zappa is too scared to answer the above....i'll you the question. is it true?

Your lack of self-awareness is quite remarkable.

another coward who can't answer a simple question

whenever you lefties get all pissy about something and run away from the actual discussion....it means i'm right 98% of the time. i've seen you try and take down my arguments when you think you have a valid point....and when you don't....you give the ad hom cheer like above
