White House photo sparks protest

onceler is a coward. pick the topic and i will start thread.

the outrage is there, if you want to ignore the families....go for it.

pick a topic coward. not this thread, but a new topic. come on, do it. you're so much smarter than me. prove it in a thread devoted to you making me look like a fool. you won't, because you're afraid.

Yurt, we're debating right now, and I'm trouncing you soundly. "The outrage is there"...no, it isn't. There isn't anything in the article that supports a characterization of "outrage."

This is embarassing. Cowards are the people who lie, btw. You have lied on this thread, a few times. And now you're trying to distract.

I read the article. Very little, if anything, that you said was in there, is not. Certainly not the "outrage."

You'd do better to just admit it at this point. You're clearly floundering.

Pentagon officials had said that because 19 of 30 of the American families of the dead had objected to media coverage of the remains coming off a plane at Dover Air Force Base, no images could be taken. In addition, the Pentagon rejected media requests to take photos that showed officials at the ceremony but did not depict caskets. An official White House photo of a saluting Obama was distributed to news media and published widely. It also was posted on the White House website as the "Photo of the Day." It showed Obama and other officials in silhouette and did not depict caskets.

A photo of Obama and other officials in silhouette IS MEDIA COVERAGE OF THE EVENT
A photo of Obama saluting....IS A PHOTO OF OFFICIALS AT THE CEREMONY

Have someone explain this to you....

That ain't "outrage" bravs.

Do you know what outrage is?

how odd....given you have repeatedly brought up that i work in the legal profession and i repeatedly try to dispell you of that

and here you are today, claiming the same

the yurt love is strong, it is ok

I apologise. Your use of language marks you as anything but a member of any learned profession. sp: d-i-s-p-e-l (just the one 'l') and usage would be 'to dispel [s'thg]' not 'to dispel [s'one]'.
I would usually charge for such advice but since you appear to be of extremely low status and close to the bottom of the 'earnings' pool I will let you have it for nothing.

My fault for thinking you were intelligent to know what a metaphor was...
Ignoring the wishes of the families of the dead solders is an act of dis respect and a fuckin' disgraceful act for the president to do ...him being ultimately responsible for their deaths....

but then Obama seems to never have heard the line...."the buck stops here".....for him the bucks stopped with President GW Bush.....

In America 'f*** you' is a metaphor? No, it's an expletive. Without the 'you' it might be an expletive, a verb or simply a discourse marker.
Sadly your li'l old country (had to remember to insert the 'o' next to the 'u' there. Nearly a bad but totally justified error.) has very few 'bucks' to stop.

so you're ok with the president using this as a photo op? honestly, didn't expect that from you. even the pentagon didn't feel that was right.

Every politician uses everything they do as a photo-op. What I saw was a pic of the POTUS saluting. I saw no caskets in the picture.

The Pentagon gets to speak about their people. They get to pass on what the families request concerning the remains of their loved ones.

But you think they should be able to decide whether the POTUS has his pic taken saluting fallen warriors? WTF?

Sparks protest among whom? I can see that the media are pissed, but I don't see anything about pissing off the families of the deceased. And "spits on the dead" is just a tad much, innit?

Here's the "offensive" photo:

081011_dover_whitehouse_283_regular.jpg

I doubt that Yurt and co. even saw that before they went off on another predictable rant.

thanks for posting.... I agree there is nothing offensive about the photo. While the families may have requested no media coverage, I find it hard to believe they would object to such a photo. Whether it was a photo op or not, he is showing respect to those who lost their lives serving this country under his command. As he should.

Yurt is just a ranter by nature, nobody in their right mind could call that offensive.

What he said.

really, it was controlled?

Doug Wilson, head of public affairs at the Pentagon, said the department did not know the White House photographer was present and had no idea a photo of the event was being released until it became public. He said the photographers who routinely travel with the defense secretary and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff were not allowed to go to the event, and no official Pentagon photos were taken or released.

you're seriously off the mark here. the whole point was that there be zero photos released to the public. obama disregarded those wishes and the agreement the pentagon established and brought his own photographer and published those photos through HIS media. you can't seriously claim that WH website is not media. you can't seriously claim that the president publishing that photo for a photo op is obama not using the media. good lord, that is the most asinine logic.

It is really predictable that Newsmax and Fuxx News are all over this story, they must pray every day for more useful idiots like Yurt to disseminate their ill disguised propaganda

oh no a typo....you really got me there

actually, i got the story from yahoo, who got it from the AP, which is fox's source...additionally, the story was on cnn etc...

ooops, another screw up by you

the question being overlooked is, does anyone answer to the families of those who died......

Could you elaborate?

The families requested that no media coverage of the caskets being removed from the plan take place. No media coverage of the caskets being removed took place. So what exactly is it that someone has to answer for?

Do you honestly think people will be offended that the President showed up to pay his respect to the fallen? That his own photographer took a photo of him paying respect, but not showing the fallen as requested?

Do you have ANYTHING that supports the assertion that the families were upset by this photo?

no, because I haven't looked.....but I know if I said I didn't want something in the media and it ended up in the media I would have questions for whoever I instructed otherwise.....

Again.... what was asked by the families was that the media not be allowed to cover the event. The media was not allowed to cover the event.

Again... the families also asked that no photos be taken of the remains being taken off the plane. No photos were taken of the remains being taken off of the plane.

So AGAIN... WHAT is it that you think the families requested that wasn't honored?
