More Christian "kindness" helps to remind us what this season REALLY means:

That may well be true but it doesn't change the fact that the actions of these Firemen was unprofessional, unethical and unchristian and the public should be outraged by this ethical lapse.

As I said. The ethical and right thing to have done would have been to put the fire out and then charge the family for the full cost of services because they didn't pay their annual fee. To permit their home to burn down is just fucking reprehensible.

It is just plain inhumane.

I wonder when he was sailing the seven seas whether he would have approved of his ship refusing to pick up people shipwrecked unless they paid for it first?

Ahahahaha, good one! To answer you, yes, bravo would have left their asses in the water!

Who does that if the fees are paid? These are irrelevant questions.

It is only irrelevent, if you reject it; because it doesn't fit into your agenda.
If the firefighter gets hurt, while preforming the duties he was hired for, then the Fire Departments issurance (usually city or county) pays for his injuries.

If he's injured while preforming something that is not in his job description, then the insurance won't cover anything.

You need to educate yourself as to what falls under a scope of responsibility.

Bullshit again. I work with Firemen on a very regular basis and I've trained a ton of them over the years and they are indeed profesionals with a profesional ethic and I can tell you from first hand experience that the overwhelming majority of the ones I know would be appalled by this story and would refuse an order to stand by and watch a home burn for these reasons because they would consider it unethical as hell and unprofessional. If you think Firemen are common day laborers you don't know shit about Firemen either!

Then you ask them who pays for their medical or their families if they get hurt or killed doing something that falls outside of thier scope of responsibilities, which are usually set by the city or county they are working for.

Their JOB maybe?

Apperently they did do their JOB, so what's the complaint?

And since you seem to aware of what their job description is, why don't you post it and show everyone that you have a leg to stand on; because at this moment, you're just running on something that sounds good.

I'm sure the city or county they work for, can supply you with the documentation of what falls under their scope of responsibility and what doesn't.

I vaguely remember this from last year when we had the same debate. The firefighters were told not to put out the fighter so they were doing their job as they were told. The argument then turned to well they should have put it out anyway even if their boss said they shouldn't. Then we get into the area you referenced with liability and so forth.

Well, these 'firemen' are blokes like you and me....not professionals, ......they are volunteers of the community,......

students, ditch diggers, mechanics, roofers, garbage men, etc..... and thats irrelevant.....

we live by rules, like it or not......we pay for our services, like it or not......the local drug store don't give away meds to anyone.....

You're the first American I ever known to use the word bloke.

To many people fall into the band wagon of "THEY SHOULD HAVE (fill in blank) and refuse to look at or even consider that anyone who works for someone else, have rules and regulations that they are required to adhere to or face possibly being fired.

Fuck yes, fellow Roman Emperors, we have them confused!!

I normally allude to my Threedee name somewhere in my tagline, but decided not to this time. Also, Voltaire is from WA as well, so that might be a tad bit confusing to the proles. I don't think I've ever been confused with Watermark, though... :cof1:

Wrong...the bottom line is they could have saved that families home, but chose to do nothing.

Last time I checked, Firemen are outfitted with equipment powerful enough to saturate that home from 25 yards away...IF someone got injured and the slimy insurance corporation decides they won't pay, then spread the news how another heartless corporation won't do the right thing to help a firefighter who heroically saved a families home during the holiday!

What part am I wrong about?

Well, since you seem to believe it's acceptable for you to assume what you think I know and don't know...how about you go find their job descriptions and I'll let yu know if you get it right...

:palm:

Just imagine... after hearing of the EXACT same thing happening last year... how f'in stupid do you have to be to have not paid that fee?

Trying to blame the 'slimy insurance company'.... that is truly fucking pathetic. By those standards the insurance companies should have to pay for everything regardless of what we do. No business could survive that kind of stupidity.

Perhaps if you actually took the time to READ my post, you'd note that I only "blamed the insurance company" while positing a HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION, and not for anything that has happened yet.

But you'd actually have to read my posts instead of just ASSuming what you think I said.
