why should I have to pay for something to prove who I am in order to exercise a right that the government has no say over? why is that a hard question to answer? isn't having to pay for something in order to exercise a right, making that a privilege?

1) no one is making you pay for it, and 2) obviously you don't have a right to vote if you aren't a citizen.......

I do and you just pointed it out. It's redundant. You have to provide adequate identification when you register to vote and, in most states, you have to provide your signature against the template of your signature on record, when you do vote. So why is this superflous and redundant form of identificatin needed? There hasn't been a case of rampant voter fraud in my State since God knows when. So then why is this redundant form of Identification neccessary if it's not intended to suppress the vote of certain constituencies?

That's not the issue. Why do I need this redundant form of identification when #1. I've all ready adequatly identified myself and #2. Voter fraud is not a problem cause the current form of identification works. So why is this solution in search of a problem needed unless it is intended to supress the vote of certain demographics?

There not! I have a voter ID card. I got mine when I registered to vote. Didn't have to pay a thing for it. What people are opposing is requiring a secondary form of identification (a photo ID) when you show up to vote. It's just obvious that the intent of this measure is being used to suppress the rights of certain demographics.

The laws literally do not allow you to gather any evidence when you are working at the polls. The information that is requested from a voter certainly does not prove citizenship. Not when a copy of utility bill (a copy, mind you) can be used as "identification". While most voters simply show a driver's license, you can literally vote with a copy of a utility bill as your only identification.

Now, I still don't see how Obama could block the law, he's not part of the Judicial Branch and the State holds its own election. The Federal Executive Branch has zero power over voting laws in any state.

Voting Rights Act gives the Justice Department the power to block changes to voting laws in certain states.

Voter registration is a problem. Remember ACORN? Many states have sued ACORN, so obviously there is a problem.
