What exactly is the argument for NOT drilling?

Okay, I have read through thread after thread of idiot liberals defiantly refusing to budge on drilling more domestic oil. I have heard all the rhetoric about how it won't help anything, it won't decrease the price of gas, it won't ease our dependency on foreign oil, we need to get off fossil fuels anyway..... but I haven't honestly heard a legitimate argument presented, for why we shouldn't drill for more oil domestically.

I would like to hear from some of you liberals on this, please explain to me, why are you so opposed to drilling for more oil? About the only valid argument I can come up with, is the environmental concerns of drilling, but really, that is practically baseless, as the technology of cleaner drilling operations has made such great strides in cleaning up the industry. The disputed drilling area in Alaska's ANWR is about the size of three football fields... in ALL of Alaska! Billions of barrels of crude are there for the taking, but we've been tripped up and derailed for decades now, by the liberal left environmentalists. Gas is $4 a gallon, at what point do we stop being idiots?

Billions more barrels off the coast of Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, California... OFF LIMITS! Shale oil deposits to rival the Saudi's in OK... can't do it because the regulatory/compliance burden makes too costly. Even the practice of fracking for natural gas has come under scrutiny of late. It seems at every turn, liberals are defiantly standing in the way of energy resources, and it's high time we demand they state their case, or get the fuck outta the way!

Let's hear it Liberals, present your valid legitimate arguments for NOT drilling?

I'm going to take advantage of this rare thread where I agree w/ you Dix. There is no logic to it.

It's ideological - conservatives are for drilling, so some libbies just feel like they have to be against it. Same w/ green energy (but the other way around, of course).

I am a progressive that supports drilling, but it must be done in a responsible manner so as not to endanger the Earth and her occupants.

I agree, but there are endless possibilities to advance the green cause in all of this. It's the perfect compromise legislation - okay, you can drill here & here, and we can get tax incentives for this & that...

I think most liberal/progressives on here think we should drill. I haven't seen too many who argue against it, but I could be wrong.

You've been asked NUMEROUS times to corroborate your claims...and every time, you tell others to do your work for you and then ignore any subsequent requests.

I can't see taking the time to put together a response just so you can ignore any questions I might have regarding your position or info provided.

So how about, until you learn how to debate properly, you GFY?

I agree, I think we should continue to find green solutions to energy, because someday there will be no more oil.

i think the argument is:

1. experts claim that more drilling, even if we could output 10 million more bbls today, that it would not affect US gas prices as it would have little impact on the world market. while this is possibly true, it is speculation, then again, so is my opinion.

2. it would X number of years. this is a ridiculous argument that has been made for over 30 years. keep making it and of course it becomes true.

I am pro-energy independence. So I am for both of these.

Where are these threads where "idiot liberals" defiantly refuse to budge on drilling?

Link up.

In the meantime, enjoy these facts:

Since February 2009, U.S. oil production has increased 15 percent..

Let's get some things clear, I don't play your game, libtard. You want to divert the debate into some minutia and superficial argument which doesn't deal with the topic at all, because that is how you roll. I learned this about you a long time ago, and I don't play... you know that, yet it somehow still seems to get under your skin or stick in your craw, that I won't play or be cajoled into playing. You can spout off as much crap about me as you want, run around to several threads and repost your vitriol, I still ain't playin'. I would suggest, if you have an answer to the question in the OP, you give it, or leave. I don't really care which, to be honest.

Yeah, I understand why you don't want the discussion diverted into pesky little things like FACTS.

Pesky things those facts, they make your clueless rants that much more idiotic.

Make all the excuses you want...everyone understands it's what you do whenever anyone brings up those pesky "facts".

Even the premise of this thread hasn't been supported by any factual evidence. Where are the posts by "idiotic" liberals who don't want to allow any drilling?
