Maybe not such a bad idea.

A study released last week by researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago finds that a little bit of alcohol (just enough to register 0.075 on a breathalyzer) can help your mind explore unorthodox solutions. Sometimes, researchers found, having a little less focus can be helpful. The report, "Uncorking The Muse: Alcohol Intoxication Facilitates Creative Problem Solving" was published in the journal Consciousness and Cognition.
A number of tech companies permit or encourage on-the-job drinking.
"Our philosophy," says Joe Beninato, CEO of Palo Alto, California, app-maker Tello, "is that if we treat our employees like adults, they'll respond accordingly." As on Madison Avenue, workers work long hours. "They're here morning, noon and night," says Beninato. Tello makes available a wide variety of beverages, including alcohol. When the company scores a victory, he says, "We celebrate them with champagne or a shot of whiskey."

You can find science to "prove" whatever you want it to. Just look at the climate change debate.

By the way, I hardly need science to prove to me that mind altering substances open the doors of perception in one's mind.
I also know, though that any aberant behavior can be readily rationalized.

Whatever. I certainly don't judge you based on your toking up, I would certainly hope you are adult enough to practice the same tolerence.

I have plenty more to add, but I will not hijack your thread to fall on deaf ears. Funny how you can hear my tone over the internet.
Obviously I use substances to expand my mind, but I am an artist, it is par for the course. Doesn't mean I am 100% ok with it though, or not. It just is.
 
Whiskey at work? ONly for executives, everyone else gets fired for it.
That is why they get the big bucks.
 
Work at a bar?

Everyplace I have ever worked at would fire you for drinking while on the clock or coming in smelling of alcohol.
I guess it is from living and working in the Bible belt.
Many countys in KY are still dry with no alcohol sales.

You ever have people come into your office and rearrange everything so that it's unsafe? We've done stuff like that at work, but our safety guy has a good sense of humour and probably just laughs and chalks it up to bored individuals on night shift being inventive.

No, mainly because being unsafe here can quickly become lethal.
 
I drink at work occasionally. They're OK with it in moderation, and sometimes even provide it.

Tomorrow is gonna be a gin morning. :)
