“A new Pew Research Center survey reveals just how impactful so-called news influencers are in the current information ecosystem”

“About 21% of U.S. adults are turning to news influencers for information, with most saying creators “helped them better understand current events and civic issues,” according to the study”

Definitely true from all the tweets we see here

Also pretty scary considering social media feeds off of algorithms so it is providing readers with what they want to see, confirming their existing views, regardless if those views are real or not. Not to mention social media is easy prey for manipulators with defined purposes

And if I had to bet another fifth know what they think they know from infotainment, which is also alarming given it’s primary goal is selling melodrama for profit

Its scary but I have less of a problem with that then I do with some supposed news outlets pretending they are objective when they clearly are not. The legacy media being at the top of that list. ABC, NBC and CBS are anything but objective. They lean left we all know it but they still like to pretend. Same with CNN and MSNBC which is probably the worst of them all.

We've known this for awhile now, younger people don't go in their front yard and pick up their morning paper nor do they tend to sit at home in the evening and watch the nightly news. Sites like TikTok are where they get their political info from.

As far as Twitter almost every writer for the NY Times, WaPo, WSJ, The Atlantic etc. are on Twitter. The papers themselves have twitter pages. They post their articles and tweet out news. For some reason that offends you.

Your last sentence (the bolded) is exactly what Fox News and MSNBC do. It's entertainment and their product is politics. Listeners of those stations will argue passionately otherwise but it's just a grown up version of TikTok.

I suspect it offends him now only because Elon Musk bought Twitter and stopped censorship on that platform.

Ok, I actually read the article. Podcasters are influencers. I suppose you can argue politicians should only do interviews with reporters from NBC, CBS, ABC & PBS but that would be equivalent to living in 1960.

Politicians try to reach as many people as possible and in the era we live in the old medium is outdated. And celebrities are influencers. I don't see people on the left complaining when Democrats celebrate Taylor Swift, Beyonce or any other number of celebrity endorsements.

People just get upset when folks vote differently than we would like them too.

Here what Mika had to say about that. This from a rebuttal to the claim that Mika was talking about Elon musk whe she said "he". The fact she said its the medias job to tell people what to think wasn't the problem for anyone it was the incorrect assumption that "he" meant musk. You can't make this shit up.

Brzezinski responded: “Well and I think that the dangerous, y’know, edges here are that he’s trying to undermine the media, trying to make up his own facts. And it could be that while unemployment and the economy worsens, he could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think. And that is our job.”
