Anyhow, I'll have some Mac questions for you if you have some time next week. The Puyallup Fair ends on Sunday, and then I have the rest of the year off with the exception of a 4 day home show in a few eeks. I'll pick your brain if you don't mind.

VLC - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (Great video player that works with tons of formats)
Quicksilver - http://quicksilver.blacktree.com/ (This one, will take some getting used to for a newbie, but once you start using it, you wont be able to function without it)
NeoOffice - http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php (If you don't have word, this is a great replacement.
