Another difference is that in the US the poor can work their way out of generational poverty. I see it every year. Of course I also see many of the hillbillies here continue to sit on the porch, draw their welfare and guzzle their beer trying to figure out how to get Joe Billy Bob on government disability.

At least most have all of their teeth. South Koreans are very hygienic. I'm guessing North Koreans are too. Hillbillies, especially the meth addicts, not so much.
