A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

please notice the word keep

reserve and national guard members are not allowed to keep their weapons - they remain in their armories

anyone remember the minutemen from the time of the revolutionary war?

"anyone remember the minutemen from the time of the revolutionary war?"

No I am not quite that old.

You mean those guys that were too cowardly to stand in ranks and fight? But fought like savages from ambush?

just remember that without that guerilla warfare, America would never have become a Nation. That's probably what you wish would have happened though, right?

I dunno, who knows where we would be today if the first American revoloution had failed. Maybe better, maybe worse.

Anyway, my point is comparing how we view others now is how we were once viewed.
The Minutemen were enemy combatant terrorists. Per current definitions.

yeah, it goes along the same lines as 'one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter'.

you should check out the other post I made earlier today about the 4 stages of revolution. You'd probably hate it.

LOL, I don't think so.
Anyway how R U doing?

i am getting weaker

i am on a diabetic and no iodine diet along with no thyroid hormone replacement therapy so they can give me a radioactive pill to hopefully nail the last of cancer

i get the pill a week from friday and they will do scans monday to check

the pain is still there and i still feel like i was run over by a truck - thank you for asking

i got 13 hours of sleep last night and that helped

how goes it with you

Damn sorry to hear that you are not recovering, yet at least.
Going ok with me I guess. I had my handyman plant my garden so I can get around in it with an offroad wheelchair.
I spent the afternoon piddling around in the garden, training bean vines and such. Should have summer squash and peas to pick this week.
I can walk less than 50% of the time now. Left leg does not want to work too well and hard to operate a numb limb.
My shoes are too tight and I have forgotten how to dance.
Lots of pain too, but still better than you are doing I think.
I am still able to care for myself and do not need assisted living or anything. I don't think I will let myself get that bad. But for now life is pretty good.
Went to a couple of dance recitals of the granddaughters last weekend, and am planning on taking the grandchildren fishing on one of my boats this coming weekend. I have a wheelchair ramp on the pontoon boat. I gave the zippy fishing boat to my son.

Hang in there DQ, we love ya.

ps forgot, I sold my business to my employees and they are doing ok in the recession. I had a couple of good contracts to get them thru thhis year at least.

So you admit that they weren't the definitions of the day, back then!!

By the definition of the British they were uncivilized attack from ambush types.

Which has nothing to do with what you offered.

Now if you want to use the definition(s) used at that time, then do so; but if you want to use the definition(s) being used now, then you'll need to stick with what's happening now.

Your choice.

only if i was on the receiving end

now as a terrorist, i think i would be quite good...40 years ago - hell i can barely type these days (my hands shake too much)

good for you - sorry to hear about your leg - but still good for you

i hope to dance at my youngest granddaughters wedding (my mom lived to 87 at which time i think that she gave up)

So you admit that they weren't the definitions of the day, back then!!

actually, they were committing treason

the penalty for treason was being hung three times (just put a rope around the neck and haul them up and let them back down before they died), castrated and drawn and quartered

after which their head was put on a spike sans body

yes it was treason.

Conservatives true to the crown were the partiots.

How perspectives and the flavor of history changes.
