2nd Debate CBS Poll: Obama 37, Romney 30, Tie 33

CNN: Obama 46, Romney 39.

Wow. I honestly thought it would be more lopsided than that.

This was a victory for Obama, but it pales in comparison to Romney's performance in the first debate. This was essentially a tie. Personally, I believe the reason for this was the less than cordial behavior on the part of both candidates.

It's pretty much what we've been saying. A draw or very slight edge to Obama. I don't think this is going to move the polls.

According to the survey, Obama had a 47%-41% edge on which candidate was more likeable. But on some key issues, Romney came out on top, including an 18-point lead on the economy.

... 18.

point.

lead.

on the economy. the number 1 issue for voters this election..

Accordingly, I'd expect to see Romney to continue to gain in swing states, albeit possibly a bit more slowly. I don't think he will be damaged by this "loss."

I just have the link I provided.

I don't pretend to know how the electorate will react in the coming days. I def think it was a thin obama win (something I expected anyway) this really isn't a surprise. The question is if it slows romney down, boosts obama up, or stalls everything.

If Obama won on likability, expect him to come out ultra douchy in the next debate. He was probably worried when he came off stage, having been a complete douche, and then saw the poll data and LOLed...

The debate does a couple of things. It keeps the left wingers off of suicide watch. Andrew Sullivan can start taking his HIV medications again. Both candidates had good moments. Obama handled Benghazi better than I thought he would, although the facts don't back him up. Romney flubbed that. Romney had some surprise wins. I think Romney actuall answered immigration than Obama. And romneys best moment was when the black guy asked Obama why he should vote for him again. Obama just gave a stump speech saying "Osama is dead". Romney killed it with an indictment of Obamas record. Another area Romney almost flubbed was on oil production. He kept getting in the weeds about where we are drilling when all he had to say was "just look at the price of gasoline". He also could have made a very powerful argument in supply and demand by pointing to the fact that the price of natural gas is down because production is up.

I would give the win to Obama in the debate. But in the end I don't think it changes the trajectory.

What came out of the first debate was that people could see Romney as President. They already know they don't want to reelect Obama. None if that changed last night.

one thing I saw in the debate.......given the CNN audience response, if they want to reach any remaining independent voters they're wasting their time talking about their opponent instead of what they intend to do.......

please dont insult your intelligence by posting an online unscientific poll that can be spammed by random liberals to sway the numbers, not to mention people can delete their cookies and vote again. there is a reason campaigns don't use online polls for their data

Again, too little too late for Romney. Obuma wins big!

Are you seriously that brain dead? Look, I know you like weed - I like it, too - but it might be wise to go easy on it until the election. You're obviously not thinking clearly, nor do you have even a rudimentary grasp of what has transpired over the last two weeks. To claim that "Obama wins big" is absolutely ludicrous. I suspect even hacks like Desh and Bitchou would admit that this election will be fairly close.

And yet, someone one this forum has stated Romney will win by a landslide, hmmmmmm, wonder who that could be?
