Fifty-two percent of likely voters say the nation is in “worse condition” now than in September 2008, while 54 percent say Obama does not deserve reelection based solely on his job performance.

The Hill’s poll was conducted Sept. 2 among 1,000 likely voters by Pulse Opinion Research. It has a 3 percentage point margin of error.

Pulse is a "field service" spun off of of Rasmussen Reports that conducts their well known automated, recorded-voice surveys. It also conducts polls for other clients including, as of today, Fox News. While the questions asked on specific surveys may differ, the underlying methodology used by Fox/Pulse and Rasmussen are essentially identical.

Earlier this year, Rasmussen launched a new website for Pulse that, as he explained to Tim Mak of the Frum Forum, allows anyone to "go to the [Pulse] website, type in their credit card number, and run any poll that they wanted, with any language that they want... In effect, you will be able to do your own poll, and Rasmussen will provide the platform to ensure that the polling includes a representative national sample." According to the Pulse web site, basic election surveys start at $1,500 for a sample of 500 state or local respondents.

i think many on both sides are in that position. i know i am in quandary, and when it comes down to it, i may vote romney, but may for a TP. just not sure i feel comfortable with a so called throw away vote.

the only reason liberal leaning people don't like rasmussen reports is that it's one of the only polling firms that consistently polls likely voters, which tends to skew more conservative than polls of "all adults" or "registered voters." The reason for this is thatmany of the registered voters include the youth, which don't vote, and poor people, who don't vote.

the 54% is more of a useful metric. Having that many likely voters saying obama does not deserve it really is not a good sign for him (duh)

The campaign has come down to less of who we want in the White House as it is who we don't want more.

It's not a throw away vote, that's the kind of crap the major parties are dropping in.

Vote for a non-party candidate if you're sick of both. If enough people do that possibly we might get a third real party who could shock the big two into running for office in a manner that isn't slinging mud at eachother.
