71% of Americans Think Key Witnesses Should Testify

"The Washington Post and ABC released a poll Tuesday that found 49% of those surveyed said President Trump should be impeached and removed from office, and 71% think he should allow senior administration officials to testify in a likely Senate impeachment trial."

Poll: Majority of Americans believe top Trump aides should testify

THAT's reassuring!

Having John 'Drug Deal' Bolton and Mick 'Get used to it' Mulvaney testify, might not be a winning strategy for Trump. (?)

Hello Jack,

I am quite stoked by this poll. People really want the whole story.

Time and time again it was said that the Democrats do not have the first hand testimony. Well everybody knows that's because Trump stonewalled the impeachment. That first hand testimony is ready and waiting just as soon as we get those key witnesses to testify.

This poll tells me that a lot of people did not really pay much attention to the impeachment. They are looking at what the Democrats said, and what the Republicans said and, of course, they are seeing two completely different stories. They would like to hear more. They want the key witnesses to tell what happened.

I tend to forget that most people don't care about politics. Their lives are too busy to spend the time needed to get and stay informed. And it can be very stressful. Most people are learning about the impeachment in sound bytes. The poll numbers for impeachment support could still rise as people learn more and more about what happened. I applaud Pelosi's decision to slow down on handing the articles over to the Senate. Republicans have been saying it was going too fast. They should welcome this pause. They seemed to like that word pause, so here's another pause for them.

The initial Transcript describes the extortion. End of story.

Yes, I know, but the Republican spin has clouded the issue for these uninformed people. They don't know what to think. They want to hear from the key witnesses just like we do. They might change their minds if there is a 'smoking gun' moment that the Republicans just can't spin.

Sounds like 71% think the house cant make a case with the info they spent all this time putting together.
Present your case and the senate will judge its merit. Not up to the senate to build a case.

That is exactly what the Senate does. They call witnesses and subpoena documents. The House's function was to determine if there is enough evidence to go to trial. They did and there is.

The Repubs can't even accept the Facts. It's like 'Climate Change', just deny, claim it's a Chinese Hoax, and then start talking about something else.

How convenient for your side that the witnesses with the first hand testimony are all being prevented from testifying by the defendant. That's rigged justice, ie, no justice at all. It is not a fair trial under those circumstances. It is rigged in favor of the defendant, who has effectively placed himself above the law.

THAT is why 71% of Americans want to hear from those witnesses. Because only about 30% are strongly in support of Trump.

Actually, views on Climate Change are coming around slowly. Conservative views do change. They just take longer than progressives. Today's liberal ideas become conservative standards in 20 years.

Pelosi is smart to slow down the impeachment proceedings at this point. That will give everyone a chance to reflect on all that has been said. It is unlikely more number will side with the President, but time could erode his support as more people learn the facts. Remember, most people are not well informed politically. They don't know what we know.

So you admit you have no case. Good, thats a start.

The Senate is the jury. They don't present anything. Why not let the WH staff testify? Don't you guys want TRE45ON exonerated with no stink of a rigged trial? You all claim he's ever so innocent. Why aren't you pressuring your (R) Senators and the WH to allow the testimony of these first-hand witnesses? Afraid of something they might say?

Hard for rights to understand. Lots of Americans want a fair trial. The Reds want it to be one-sided and fast with no information about Trump's malfeasance allowed. Not all of America sees Trump as above the law and justice.
What does Trump have to lose if he is innocent? But from the beginning, he has acted as a guilty person would.
