September 11 families write letters against Bush plan
Also Sunday, 34 relatives of September 11 victims released the text of a letter they sent to senators asking them to fight Bush's proposal. The family members said they do not believe "that it is in the interest of the United States to create a system of military courts that violate basic notions of due process and lack truly independent judicial oversight."
"Not only does this violate our most cherished values and send the wrong message to the world, it also runs the risk that the system will again be struck down, resulting in even more delay" in prosecuting terrorists, the relatives wrote.
