MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN
TCM (Turner Classic Movies) broadcast the movie A Clockwork Orange, this evening.
I haven’t seen it, in a very long time.

Yeah, it's mildly fucked-up. I'll have to watch Caligula sometime, as it was controversial, as well, and also starred Malcolm McDowell. I watched A Clockwork Orange primarily to keep-up with Stanley Kubrick films, as he only made a handful.

It was based on a famous book by Anthony Burgess. Kubrick was so disturbed by the adverse publicity that he wouldn't allow it to be shown in the UK in his lifetime.

I saw Caligula when it first came out, now there's an odd film. None of the legitimate actors were told that Bob Guccione wanted to make a soft porn film.

I'm not sure if this is what he intended; but I believe the movie says more about the Government, then it does about criminal behavior.

If Burgess was trying to make a point about government control over our lives, conformity, and the dangers of such experimentation, he could have selected a more sympathetic character.

Someday it would be fun to be Alex DeLange at a Halloween party, though.

To me it was an example of both extremes.
1 - violent unrepentant criminals
vs
2 - government trying to control

Actually it says much about some of the hysterical tabloids at the time. Every act of violence got linked to the film, remember this was the era of skinheads and boot boys.

Lefties keep claiming Trump is a racist, yet I have seen no proof of this. Perhaps his strengthening historically black colleges led you to believe this?

They continue; because they began doing this prior to the elections and if they had to actually provide proof of their accusation(s), it would then allow even their die-hard supporters to realize how disingenuous the Democrat party truly is.
