A couple more puzzling things about Vegas

Teflon Don

I'm back baby
I am not going to get into ballistics discussions, as even though I am an avid shooter, I don't consider myself a ballistics expert

How is it that people take as an article of faith that Paddock made "millions" playing video poker? It seems almost impossible

As this article indicates the best machines out there have a return of 90-97%. This means that if you spend $100 at best, you will return $90-97. Now how is that a way to make millions? How is that "making a living" gambling? It just doesn't add up.

Vegas was not built on winners. It was built on losers. Casinos have a vested interest in watching every aspect of the floor. If they see a gambler really beating the odds they are going to be watched closely. Of course they want someone to hit every now and again. That is the hook. That you can somehow beat the odds. So if nobody wins, then nobody plays. But they sure as shit don't want someone taking millions of dollars from them. If they thought he found a way to make their video poker machines pay out better than the above return rate, he would have been banned and the machines would have been taken out of service.

Where is the mystery security guard?

Where is he? He supposedly thwarted Paddock from even more carnage. Why isn't he being heralded about on Kimmel and the like?

I hadn't seen where it was claimed that the shooter made "millions playing video poker." You're right, by the way. Casinos wouldn't be here if they lost money. It's possible he lost millions but won? Not a chance. Now it's possible that some top tier poker tournament players could score that much in a year. No mention has been made that I've seen of him being a poker ace though.

Do you have any theories as to why this guy did this heinous crime?

I am trying hard not to trade in conspiracy theories, but these stories do not add up

He wouldn’t have needed 23 guns to commit carnage. 5 would have sufficed with multiple magazines. Quicker than changing weapons.
