Fox News’ Trey Gowdy drew the fury of President Donald Trump’s gun-loving MAGA base on Wednesday when he dared to talk about possible gun control in the wake of the deadly Minneapolis school shooting that saw two children killed and more than a dozen wounded.

“Our system is reactive. Something bad happens, we react to it,” the former GOP congressman for South Carolina said on the Outnumbered panel show.

Gowdy, who actually received money from the National Rifle Association when in office, suggested a conversation had to be had about whether Americans want “freedom versus protecting children.”

“I mean, how many school shootings does it take before we’re going to have a conversation about keeping firearms out,” he added.

“How many school shootings before we're going to have a conversation about keeping firearms out of…it's always a young white male, almost always."
