A swamp is stagnant. There were some serious currents in the stream that day when it flooded - if you went out there, you would die.

It is a blackwater stream rather than a whitewater, so the actual water is swampish in consistency. For instance, it has a pH of around 5, compared to the neutral pH of rivers in most parts of the world. That's why the color is that way.

lol awesome. is this current or was this after one of the major hurricanes? how do you get out of your house and where to you put your cars? O_O

This was in the summer. The water usually doesn't get quite this high after a hurricane, but for some reason during the summer it started raining for days and days, and this was at the end of that. Just a little more and our house would've been flooded. But the water soon started going back down afterward, so it narrowly avoided flooding our house.

Who's the fuckwad that left that motorcycle parked in the water, instead of pulling it into the frontroom where it belongs?
 
That's where my dad parks it when he comes over. We had just seen the flood when we woke up (it had flooded during the night/morning). We moved it after we took the pictures.
