Masterpieces housed at the Detroit Institute of the Arts have been valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

The collection could soon be tapped as an essential source of income to help pay Detroits' debts.

The building and several thousand works of art in the collection of the Detroit Institute of the Arts are owned by the city, and the city manager overseeing the bankruptcy has said it's possible that some those works could be sold to pay off creditors.

It would likely be best for everyone involved if you'd stop eating your own poo.

No one that ever lived has not had to make some kind of personal sacrifice, at one time or another in their lifetime.

So, I see no reason why Detroit should not make a personal sacrifice for their own survival in sustaining themselves.

I question, why anyone would even question it?

This seems like a local bankruptcy issue?

"The city of Detroit, Michigan, filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy on July 18, 2013. It is the largest municipal bankruptcy filing in U.S. history by debt, estimated at $18–20 billion, exceeding Jefferson County, Alabama's $4-billion filing in 2011.[1] Detroit is also the largest city by population in the U.S. history to file for Chapter 9 bankruptcy, more than twice as large as Stockton, California, which filed in 2012. While Detroit's population had declined from a peak of 1.8 million in 1950, its July 2013 population was reported by The New York Times as a city of "700,000 people, as well as to tens of thousands of abandoned buildings, vacant lots and unlit streets."[1]"

Gee. Half the people left the area.
1. Globalization ... Jobs going to Third World nations.
2. Automation. ... Jobs going to Robotics.

Anyone think there is a Lesson to be Learned here?
Anyone think Andrew Yang is the only one addressing this issue.
Anyone think importing MORE people into the US will help?

as I recall this issue came up years ago when Detroit needed a bailout and private donors came up with a plan to save the art.....(never mind, this is from 2013.....it IS the issue that came up years ago).....

the way this was resolved was that private donors came up with a shitload of money, set up a trust for the art institute, bought the art and donated it to the trust then "loaned" it for display at the art museum......
