A veteran exercising his First Amendment right

It upsets me to see the American flag burn, but it is not against a law, so how can he be arrested. Hey, technically it is what we are supposed to do when a flag gets worn out.

It upsets me more to see Swastika, which the alt right loves, and they have the right to wear. Again, it is not against the law, and is even protected expression, so I have to tolerate it... Not like it.

As far as I know there is NOT a law against burning the flag. There are " suggested " way of doing it and that is the way IMO it should be done , showing some respect for our flag but no laws against just burning it.

You'd be wrong.

It is illegal to set a open fire on a sidewalk or other public space in Washington DC without a permit.

Burning an American flag is not illegal.

Exactly, you cannot just arrest a person if they have broken no law. Or at least you should not be allowed to.
