All the news that's fit to hear

JPP readers will know that private messages, now in the public domain, among Fox News hosts reveal that many of them dismissed claims of widespread fraud in the 2020 election even as those claims were being made repeatedly on Fox’s shows.

“Sidney Powell is lying by the way. I caught her. It’s insane” - Tucker Carlson.

“Sidney is a complete nut. Ditto with Rudy” - Laura Ingraham.

“[Trump] is acting like an insane person” - Sean Hannity.

“Really crazy stuff” - Rupert Murdoch.

The revelations have generated headlines around the world. But in American conservative media? Crickets.

Of the 26 most popular conservative television news networks, radio shows etc, 18 – including Fox – have not covered the Dominion lawsuit at all with their own staff, let alone reported the messages among Fox hosts disparaging election fraud claims. Many people who learned of “election fraud” from Fox News may not be hearing that Fox’s stars privately dismissed those claims. Why would they want to hear that?

Here is a legal explanation for what Fox and the right did.
Fox is in a lot more trouble than we have been told, What we know about them is damning. However, a lot of what we have was successfully blocked from the people. by Fox lawyers. But Fox has no defense. They lied about the election and the Dominium machines. They allowed people to lie over and over. However, in the dark, they knew they were lying. What is especially bad is they did it because Fox viewers were going to other stations if they were not fed the lies they wanted to hear.

Here's what the FOX hating idiots have to learn:

You have to prove actually damages to win a civil suit. Has Dominion's business been hurt to the tune of a billion dollars? No. They weren't even clearing a billion dollars in profits at the time, or since. Therefore, even if they are 100% absolutely correct, they can only collect damages suffered. Punitive damages you say? Try proving FOX did it maliciously and with intent to harm. That's not happening, so that won't fly.

I'd expect if anything if Dominion even wins, that the amount awarded is negligible. But given that FOX hasn't tried to settle out of court, I'd say Dominion is clutching at straws here.

They're entertainers, not journalists, and it's obvious enough that we shouldn't be holding them to journalist standards.

There are no intelligent people watching them anyway.

if they help keep troglodytes off the streets, they're actually doing a public service.

The sad fact is they created an audience of anti-fact idiots. When they announced that Biden carried Arizona the viewers sent screaming nasty emails and messages to Fox saying they would turn to OAN instead of Fox. They had a viewership that wanted to be fed the lies and only the lies. Fox made a decision to give the people what they wanted and it will cost them billions. The viewers would only accept the lies about the election. Any proof of a fair and honest election was not allowed. The station managers knew better. They made a dumb move based on profits, not facts.
