Alternative to Paypal?

Ok I know there are alternatives to Paypal that exist, but does anyone here actually use them? Or what I'm really after is are they a big enough alternative that it is sort of more mainstream and not some fringe outfit that barely anyone uses?

And by "alternative", I don't mean the usual regular stuff like checks or credit cards, but something online that is similar to Paypal.
