Amazing Story from WW2

Had he shot the guard, he would have been guilty of a crime. He did the right thing and left the guard to face his justice in a proper proceeding. Do you think the guard wasn't hung?

Great story in that he showed that he was not inclined to violate the rules of war and decency just to satisfy his own abuse.

I am pretty sure that there were many reprisals, you have to be a truly special person to not want to kill the bastard. I don't think the guard was necessarily hung, haven't you seen the Railway Man? A truly brilliant film based on a true story.
