Amazon and several hotel chains are among dozens of companies that are pledging to hire more than 20,000 refugees fleeing conflict and persecution around the world.

A release from the Tent Partnership for Refugees, a nonprofit that advocates for the international business community to embrace refugees, on Tuesday said 45 major companies have committed to hire 22,725 refugees to full-time positions in the U.S.

Tent Partnership organized the U.S. Business Summit on Refugees to bring together some of the country’s largest employers to create and plan to hire and train the refugees over the next three years. The release states that the companies’ commitments to support refugees are the most significant on record.

Well, both need janitors, and other low / non- skilled workers, and being able to offer a minimum wage is a benefit for them...

Who said anything about minimum wage, but these companies need help. They are very short staffed. Here is the perfect example as to why we need immigrants to keep our economy moving.

We don't when we have a glut of largely unwilling workers with things like useless liberal arts degrees that could be doing these very jobs rather than collecting welfare. In the construction industry, use of illegals is fairly widespread and has depressed wage increases for the majority of workers for decades. Illegals hurt American workers and depress wages.

Most construction workers are union and receive union wages. There are millions of job openings and companies need workers desperately. Thats why immigrants are so important. You arent gonna find Americans willing to mow lawns, wash cars, work in restaurant kitchens, pick fruits and veggies. It dont matter if we have an advanced degree or not, those jobs have always gone to immigrants. Ask Donald, he has hired more than his share of undocumented workers.

Wrong! The vast majority of construction workers are not unionized.

The number of American workers who belong to unions continued to decline in 2021, dropping by 241,000 to 10.3% of the total workforce, according to a new report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Illegals have long held lots of unskilled and semi-skilled jobs in construction. I can tell when illegals have done electrical work I am going behind on but the electrical tape used everywhere. In fact, I'd say most of the shoddiest and non-code construction done in the US is by illegals who don't know what the fuck they're doing.

You know that argument that the Corporate Class promotes importing large numbers of low skilled people so that they will have toilet cleaners whom they can exploit and drive down wages generally?
