American cities highest in misery index have common problems

There is plenty of misery around the United States in 2010 but some cities are experiencing more of it than others. There was plenty of it to go around from January to December 2009. Do they have some things in common that puts them in that category?

This list seems about right.

According to an article published in Forbes on February 18, 2010, the list includes:

  • Cleveland, Ohio
  • Stockton, California
  • Memphis, Tennesee
  • Detroit, Michigan
  • Flint, Michigan
  • Miami, Florida
  • St. Louis, Missouri
  • Buffalo, New York
