Americans blame former President George W. Bush.....

As well they should. Bush was a horrible, disaster of a President - a man who never would have gotten near not only the Oval Office, but any elected office whatsoever if his last name hadn't been "Bush."

I always say Obama "owns" the economy now, but in a way, for anyone who understands economics, it's a little ridiculous to ascribe the current state of the economy to any policy implemented in the past year.

lol....one man is responsible for the entire economy, but obama apparently isn't as powerful as bush because you can't really blame him...bush is like an omnipotent god to most of you liberal hacks...

I assume you're talking about question #18 ?

Bush Admin to blame....from 33 to 31 ( -2)
Obama Admin to blame...from 2 to 7 (more than tripled)
Congress to blame......from 11 to 13 (+2)

At least the trend is in the correct direction...people are learning the truth slowly...

And he was just a bystander who bears no accountability for any of the failures of his administration to you right-winger hacks.

You're right...It was due to lack of policy being implemented by the Dim Congress in the last 2 years of the Bush Admin....but Obama does own the economy now...

strawman...i never said that and i know of no one who has

it is laughable that you hacks put so much blame on bush and give the dems and obama who was a sitting senator (well, he never really did his job, he was campaigning basically the entire time) a pass...

hackery at its finest

Presidents tend to get too much credit when the economy is good, and too much blame when it's bad.

But the stark fact is that Bush was President for 8 years, and everything that led to this crisis happened on his watch.

It is inescapable, much as apologists try to spin...

lol....nice spin wuss

using your logic.....i guess obama had zero responsibility as senator. i guess only bush was responsible for everything that happened while he was president. yet, if something happened under obama's watch early in his term, its still bush's fault....even though it happened under obama's watch.

your hypocrisy would be funny, if you didn't so ardently believe in it

And NOW its Obamas watch (10+ % unemployment)....and a Dim Congress since 2007,( making law and passing budgets)...their watch too.....hows that hopey changey thing workin for ya ?

Yep...It is inescapable, much as apologists try to spin.

That's silly. The Prez is the steward of the economy; nothing passes unless he signs it. He sets policy.

Are you really trying to compare that to Obama's role as one of 100 Senators?

I can't even address that seriously. Stick to calling people names, and lying about what the CBO says, CBO guy.

Actually, we're under 10%. Things are trending in the right direction, in just over a year.

Not bad; hopey changey is working pretty good....

why do you have to be such a hack? you can do better than this.

you have no concrete ideas as to why bush alone is responsible for all the ailments in the economy, yet you quickly blame him and give the legislative branch a pass.....oh yeah..........thats because DEMOCRATS had a majority from 2006 onward.....i guarantee if the legislature had a repub majority, you would be frothing at the mouth blaming them as well.....

your hackery is stupid and beneath you.

I don't think this mess is entirely Obama's fault either.

But that doesn't mean his policies are helping the situation and he will have to pay the price if some people with better ideas come along as people grow fatigued.

The depression wasn't all Hoover's fault either. He just made it so much worse he gets most all the blame even when there is blame to go 'round on both sides of him.

In all honesty, Bush get's a lot of shit, some of which isn't rightly his. This economy is one of them. Like wise, Obama is getting a lot of shit, some of which isn't rightly his. This economy falls under that category as well. If you want to blame a single entity (which is an entirely stupid premise to begin with) blame Congress.

there were other questions in that poll....

do you think the Republican party or the Democratic party is more likely to ensure a strong economy?
Rep 42% Dem 37%

Do you think Obama should compromise his positions to get things done?
Yes 72% No 22%

Do you think Obama has offered reasonable solutions to the economic problems faced by you and your family?
No 53%

Do you think Obama has a clear plan for creating jobs
No 56%

Do you think there is any President, policy or course of action that would have had us significantly lower than that in such a short period of time?

Let's hear the details....
