the collapse was the result of poor design. gussets of 1 inch thickness required but the wonderful government engineer specs 1/2 thick material.

Sixty years ago a Republican president used government money to build the best interstate system in the world. Today, our nation's combined infrastructure isn't much better than a third world country's.

Sounds like a no-brainer for a stimulus funded by a transportation tax of some sort, or perhaps by ending gas company subsidies. One that would put hundreds of thousands to work and almost immediately end the deficit.

Infrastructure is something we need to continually invest in. The return investment is huge. Two public investments that rarely go wrong are education and infrastructure.

Well shoot, why hasn't the private sector made the investment? I thought the market was the answer to every problem?

The work we are doing is moving the power from the generating plant to the homes.

are the computers that control the grid capable of withstanding attacks from hackers

we can depend that sooner or later that our utilities and the computers that control them will be attacked some day by hackers

Would you like private corporations to build our highways and charge tolls? Because they've talked about it in some places.
Yea.....they talk about it. The reason they don't do it is because even charging tolls, with maintenance costs, they'res not really any profit for them as an individual business. However as a public contribution, we all profit.

right now private corporations build highways and freeways for the state and sometimes for county and city governments local roads

So it's obvious that if Obama came up with an infrastructure improvement stimulus everyone on here would support it, right?
