Anger at being labeled racist is the new 'cultural anxiety' for Trump supporters

The people who backed Donald Trump for president in 2016 have largely continued to support him. In the previous election, many of them pointed to cultural anxiety as one of their main reasons for backing Trump's pledge to "make America great again." But as more Americans label the president a racist due to his worldview, the voters who continue to back him are becoming bolder in justifying their support, citing retaliation for being viewed as backing a racist.

I didn't back him in 2016 but will in 2020. One reason is you dolts claim I'm a racist for doing so. Why should I be anxious about that? Racism and racist lost their meaning several yrs. ago. "When everything is racist nothing is." Not the main reason though.

Giving a racist a free pass is not exactly the same thing as being a racist.

Sort of a racist-enabler, I guess.

It's not pretty.

Wrong; but then, when have you EVER been right about anything. Labeling anyone who disagrees with a Fascistic agenda makes leftist look pathetic and stupid.

The Fascistic left has diminished the word to the point of being meaningless. Race hustling is the name of their game.

Hello anonymoose,

People say things. You can't listen to everybody.

I don't think you're a racist. I can't recall you saying racist things.

I don't think support for Trump = racism.

But it's a sticky question.

You sound like you are ten years old.

That is child-like logic.

I have never met an actual adult that based their vote on a perception that obscure people on a message board were mean to them.

My other contribution here is this.

Whenever a teabagger claims they are going to be forced to vote for Trump because of mean liberals, I can guarantee you that claim is all horseshit.

They were going to vote for Trump anyway.

This board is chock full of "I don't really support Trump!" - Trump supporters. The type that claims not to support Trump, but will nonetheless invests their heart and soul into spending countless hours defending Trump on obscure message boards.

These teabaggers were always going to vote for, support, and defend Trump. Whether or not they are called out for racism.

You apparently have no concern for the main reason. Basically I'm oblivious to being called a racist.
The first time one of you moonbats called me one on a board was almost 10 yrs ago when I started a thread about how a gay masseuse sexually assaulted me by starting to massage my nuts.
The loon claimed I was a racist by not only not allowing that but was also a racist for not going out on a date with him. And he was white. Go figure. Maybe you can explain that one. You people already did a pretty good job of explaining how I'm a racist for advocating a healthy diet.
