Ha! Just saw this. Funny timing because the contractors are almost finished with repairs, $40,000. We live on the side of a hill that's very unstable clay mostly. House on the downhill side sank about 3-4 inches cracking the foundation but was still livable. One in our neighborhood was "red tagged" meaning they weren't allowed to live there until repaired.
Everything in all the cabinets was upturned, many glasses and dishes broke.
Lasted about 45 seconds and was scary as hell!
No reported injuries, we're first world and bldg. codes are to withstand earthquakes because of 1964. Lots of aftershocks that were in the 5 range for about 3 months after.
Cat wouldn't come from underneath the bed for two weeks. Poor kitty.
