It's fairly funny and it's not just a joke. ISIS relies heavily on social media. Anonymous can mess with them pretty good; shutting down, overloading and virus infecting all their internet activity. It will be interesting to see what they can do.
 
The most effective thing that Anonymous will likely do is publicize who is directly part of ISIS and where they may be. Hacking emails and social media can do actual damage. But if they black hat their banks they can do serious damage.
