After officially resigning the office of Mayor of Pasadena, former mayor John Manlove announced that he will be running for the 22nd Congressional District of Texas.
"In recent weeks I have been asked, even months, by many, to consider running for the republication nomination for the United States Congress, the 22nd district of Texas," he said at his resignation. "I (resigned), as mayor of Pasadena... to pursue new opportunities to serve my community and my country."
Manlove served in city government for 14 years, twice as mayor, and for four terms as a councilman.
The former mayor will be seeking the Republication nomination for the 22nd District, a district currently held by Congressman Nick Lampson, and formerly held by Congressman Tom Delay.
