Ghost guns are guns that were manufactured without being recorded. They do not have serial numbers. They can be produced by anyone, not just libertarians. They can be produced with 3D printers, or just normal machining. In a sense, ghost guns are older than non-ghost guns, because their were guns being manufactured without being recorded before there was recording of gun manufacturing.
There are huge ghost gun manufacturing centers in Pakistan and Philippines. They are not legal there, but for over a hundred years their production has been ignored.
Congresswoman AOC has recently drafted strong legislation designed to unilaterally ban ghost guns.
It would be impossible to unilaterally ban them; ghost guns are illegal almost everywhere. There may be a few states in the USA that technically have loopholes for producing a ghost gun, if you neither buy nor sell it, but that is iffy. Everywhere else, they are completely illegal.
At publishing time, AOC abandoned the legislation after finding out it would disproportionately affect Democrat voters.
No it would not. Ghost guns are not a big deal in the USA, because we have so many non-ghost guns on the secondary market. Why buy a Colt 1911 knockoff from Philippines, when you can buy an American manufactured in the Colt factory for less? And then there is the whole legal mess from carrying a gun without a serial number. You can tell the police it is "technically legal", but they still may arrest you and hold you for months while it works it way through the courts.
I doubt many Democratic voters would be affected by a ban on ghost guns.
I strongly disagree with Biden's stance on ghost guns. Should people have to get a license to own 3d printers?

3d guns are essentially single use things
Plastic 3D printed ghost guns are very dangerous. They are essentially zip guns. They are just as likely to kill the shooter as anyone else. I would not even trust them for one use.
Metal 3D printed ghost guns would be a different story. There is also CNC made ghost guns that can be reasonable. Not to mention the ghost guns made with conventional metal working.
Zip guns should be illegal just on safety grounds. They are dangerous to the shooter. If you do make such a gun, be very far away when it is fired. Make some sort of automatic firer.

Hand grenades are one time use weapons that can hurt the user as much as anyone else. And hand grenades are a real issue.
Besides, you have mischaracterized what ghost guns can be.
if you say 'yes' as you might be better able to sneak one in somewhere a pol is so assignation is a greater threat then ok, thats probably true but does it make it worth a law ?

Airplane parts are highly regulated. You cannot just put whatever part you want into a commercial airplane. There is a real problem with cars being modified to be far more dangerous than would be allowed by law, but that is a state issue, not a federal one. Airplanes are a federal issue.
