Are Shriners Islamic in origin?

If you'll notice, the full name is "Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine". Even though, I suppose, they are neither arabic nor ancient.

The "Shriners" (Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine) are based loosely on an "Arabic" theme, but not Muslim.

In 2010 they changed their name to Shriners International...

Anyway, the guy who created the Shriners based it on a party which he attended held by an Arabic Diplomat. There was an elaborate "play" where the guests played a part and at the end they become members of a "mystic fraternity"... The guy liked the idea and elaborated on the idea creating the "Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine"...

Now they drive around in little cars at parades, fund hospitals, and drink like loons. Definitely not "Muslim" in origin...
