The Beaver County district attorney said Thursday that investigators have largely completed their review of the death of a man after an incident with a Center Township police officer but are still awaiting final autopsy results.

An attorney for the family of Kenneth Vinyard, 46, has said he died when he was going to the aid of a gunshot victim and the officer pushed him away, causing him to strike his head Nov. 6 in the parking lot of the Walmart in Monaca. The attorney, Joel Sansone, said the officer was in plain clothes and he did not identify himself.

District Attorney David Lozier said in a press release that speculation about the case has*“run rampant” although he didn’t elaborate, so he wanted to assure the public that the investigation was proceeding as normal for such incidents.

He said state police are the main investigators and that family members and witnesses have been interviewed, evidence has been collected and reports have been written. The officer has been placed on administrative leave and will not return to regular duty as the case is pending. Mr. Lozier said he would not identify the officer.

The DA said they are still waiting for toxicology reports and a cause and manner of death ruling following the autopsy of Vinyard, whose name was given as Vineyard in some early reports. Mr. Lozier cautioned that such reports often take six to eight weeks, adding,*“This is not television.”

He also said the family had hired its own forensic specialist to review the autopsy, which he welcomed.

He concluded by asking the community to be patient.

The overwhelming majority of all police personnel are good, it is the small minority that give the profession the ill reputation, a cop doing his job isn’t newsworthy, but one cop f*cking up makes national news, just the way it is

that 'overwhelming' majority are collaborators, otherwise it would be easy to get rid of these bad cops quickly.

I have no idea what percentage of police are good people. I think it is low. The ethos of the police and us against them eventually takes over. The cops I knew said they should be cop, judge, and jury. They advocated street justice. In the 1960s they told me they were not wounding "perps" anymore. They were going to empty their guns in them. Then they did. They said now it was their word against nobody. yeah, I knew a lot of them and I am not a big fan. They talked about carrying an unmarked gun, drugs or a knife that they would put on the guy they shot.

Exaggeration, I knew and still know many police officers, even have a couple in my extended family, and the over whelming majority of them never even pulled or felt a need to pull their gun, as I commented, it is the few bad apples that give the entire profession the bad reputation

No exaggeration. It was my experience. Most of those cops were in Stress in Detroit.

The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court has ruled that 27,000 people who pled guilty or were convicted of drunk driving from June 1, 2011 to April 18, 2019, are entitled to have their cases reconsidered due to the state police lab’s widespread mishandling of breathalyzer tests and withholding of evidence.

According to the high court ruling, the 27,000 with operating under the influence (OUI) records are entitled to a “conclusive presumption of egregious government misconduct” because of the misconduct by the state police office of alcohol testing (OAT).

There are over 800,000 police offers and everyday we see instances, often antidotal narratives, of bad apples. The number of bad apples is minimal, yet many use it to characterize the entire profession

Not an exaggeration at all. I hear the bad apples meme repeatedly. However, if they are watching the abuse of civilians by other police, they are the same. That is actually proving bad apples spoiling the bunch. You are in fear of cops because so many are abusive and pugnacious.
