Who's drawn to fascism? Postwar study of authoritarianism makes a comeback

Scholars like Jonathan Weiler and Matthew MacWilliams have found that about 25 per cent of the American population are on the non-authoritarian end of the spectrum, 35 per cent are somewhere in the middle and 30-35 per cent are on the authoritarian end of the scale.

About one third of Americans are authoritarian and lean toward neo-fascism in politics.

The Growing Religious Fervor in the American Right: ‘This Is a Jesus Movement’

Rituals of Christian worship have become embedded in conservative rallies, as praise music and prayer blend with political anger over vaccines and the 2020 election.

The Christian right has been intertwined with American conservatism for decades, culminating in the Trump era. And elements of Christian culture have long been present at political rallies. But worship, a sacred act showing devotion to God expressed through movement, song or prayer, was largely reserved for church. Now, many believers are importing their worship of God, with all its intensity, emotion and ambitions, to their political life.

Agree.
The Christian Nationalists are at (in their mind) a Crossroad. They must 'take back' the country from the secularists (Infidels) that support reason and logic as a means of living together.

Religion is always authoritarian. But we are seeing the right wing nationalists using religion to gain power. Trump praised fascists as good people.

I couldn't agree more. To me "the right wing nationalists" ARE the 'Christians'. 'Christians' include Black and Latino, not just the politically correct 'White People'.

I went and found a copy of the F-scale test these yo-yo's used. It's typical semi-bullshit. But see how you do on it.

My score: (higher total = more authoritarian)

I am not an authoritarian.

Neither am I. I think the test is bullshit. What makes for good Fascists is a few really driven, power mad individuals who get into power and then use persuasion and popularity to lull the majority of sheep in society into following them with stuff that sounds good but really is totally destructive to society.
I don't think that those with an authoritarian mindset necessarily readily and willingly follow a fascist leader. Both Mussolini and Hitler drew mostly the disaffected and disenfranchised--that is the sort of losers, mostly male, in society that think they've been wronged. That is, the sort that loves being in Antifa, a neo-Nazi, or lives in a semi-fantasy of how things should be for them.

...negroes....

Yes. My guess is the Catholic Church is behind the 'caravans' that head north from Central America. 'Birth Control' ... isn't part of the Program.

Actually, it's often a radical Leftist, Marxist group called Pueblos sin Fronteras.

Who's Pueblo Sin Fronteras, the group behind the migrant caravan that drew Trump's ire?

Pueblo Sin Fronteras, group that escorts migrant caravans to U.S. border, draws scrutiny

The group includes the usual assortment of far-Left radicals, Marxists, actual terrorists, and other assorted haters on the radical Left

Typical PSF grafitti mixed in with Antifa whom they associate with.

The MSM here largely ignores PSF involvement because it makes the whole illegal immigration thing look even worse.

I'm 5.4% less authoritarian than average. Such tests can be useful like a "rule of thumb" or an indicator, but more exact testing is needed to obtain more accurate results. Did you take the Fascist Test? https://www.idrlabs.com/fascism/test.php
