Battleground: Texas?

I saw on television last night that the Clinton campaign is pouring money into Texas.

Makes sense. If they could pull off Texas, the other battlegrounds wouldn't matter.

And it would really re-shape future elections. What a wake-up call to the GOP.

Indiana is also now weak Trump, The new Battle Ground states as of today are Texas and Indiana, while Colorado and Pennsylvania have moved to safe Clinton.

The chance of a landslide for Clinton is growing. I saw where Nate Silver said a Clinton landslide is more likely than a Trump win.

Trump absolutely needs some game-changing news at this point. He needs a revelation from Wikileaks that is far more shocking than what we've seen so far, or some other October surprise. Even a decisive win in the debate tonight (extremely unlikely) won't change the dynamic too much.

I'd love to see a blue map like the red maps we saw in the Reagan elections. Primary voters have to learn a lesson on this one, and take that responsibility much more seriously.

I actually think that the best thing that could happen to the Republican Party is for it to lose Texas this election. I think it would force the party to do some real soul searching and reset itself to the principles it's supposed to have and to put the constitution first and not the person. I don't want Hillary Clinton to be our next president but if she wins the election with Texas then I think it could ultimately make the Republican Party stronger in the future if the party learns the lessons from the election loss, but if they don't learn then it will probably destroy the party. I don't really think she will win Texas but I do think she will win the election which could still help the Republican Party in the future if they act on the lessons to be learned from it.

The only way I can imagine tonight's debate changing the current trajectory of the election would be for HRC to faint on stage.

I agree w/ all of that.

I think the worst thing that could happen to the GOP would be actually winning this election. If Trump loses, he was just an anomaly, but if he wins, he defines the party for years, and there will be huge losses in Congress as a result.

Hillary is probably going to win, but by the same token, I don't think that will be good for Democrats. They'll lose a lot of ground in Congress over the course of her admin, and she'll be very ineffective as President with a GOP Congress.

The Republican could lose badly, regroup from this election and make some changes that cut out the racists and xenophobes and win big in the mid-terms. That's the best they can hope for.

I don't think it's that Hillary is so popular in Texas.
I gather it's that Trump is so UNpopular in Texas, helping Hillary substantially.

What a cycle!

There's definitely a long view/ short view aspect to it.

Hillary could win; good for liberals and democrats in the short view. But her reign will likely be a disaster which is bad news for them in coming elections.

The thing with Trump is Trump is not the movement. If he loses it won't be because he lost on the issues.

He's going to lose because he's a total train wreck who is an absolute disaster

We'll see lol. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around a big turn out for Hillary.

The democrats succeeded in making this an issue-less campaign, especially down the stretch. Which should tell you all you need to know. They're incredibly lucky Trump is so vulnerable, because the same movement behind a more effective candidate would have forced Hillary to run on her record and the issues---and she would have gotten crushed by the deplorables. In fact, Trump was pulling even with her before Pussy Gate.

So if you think it will go back to republican establishment politics as usual in the event of a Trump loss you're dreaming.

There are absolutely things about the movement I like, and I would consider supporting "the movement" if more particularly defined, if a madman like Trump were not promoting it. The guy is absolutely a train wreck. Sanders "movement" was more to my liking and the man was a better representative. I hope we will get a lot of his influence in the Clinton administration.

The biggest win for me in a Clinton administration will be the Supreme Court. She gets one and maybe four picks, very likely with a Democratic Senate.

Texas is getting bluer..this election probably adds fire to the fuel

If Texas became reliably blue, Democrats would almost never lose. A Texas, California, New York trio would be difficult to beat.

Polls showed Hillary losing to most Republicans but Trump. We just decided to elect someone as our candidate who is unelectable. And Trump is hardly about issues. When issues come up he talks about polls or anything else.

Trump is a cult of personality who is about to get his butt kicked in two weeks. I understand people not wanting to believe it but it's pretty clearly in front of us

I don't at all speak for the entire state of Texas but I would say that it's becoming more libertarian/independent than blue. It's not that Clinton is well liked or popular in Texas, she's really not, but it's that most Texans either love or hate Donald Trump. I think it's more of Texans either choosing not to vote or choosing to vote third party which is why Clintons numbers are rising. If in four years there is a conservative republican or moderate republican/libertarian nominee that isn't a populist and isn't crass and unlikeable you'd probably see Texas stay red by large numbers.

I will enjoy watching Trump lose especially after he ridiculed Romney for losing and bragged for four years about how he would have won. I cant wait for someone to confront him with his statement about not liking losers like Romney.
