Picked it up today on the way home from work. Let us see how it does.
A: DARK. Near black and allows no light to pass through it. Head is about 1/2" of light brown bubble that recedes evenly about 1 minute after pouring, leaving a thin lace around the edge of the glass
N: My sinuses are flaring up at the moment so this won't be the best time to sample the nose. But to hell with it. No overt alcohol or hops, predictable malts, though not as much roastiness as expected.
T: Coffee, very slight caramel, malt with a more noticeable roast to them. Hops is just enough to balance the sweetness and near no bitterness to the taste.
M: Almost no carbonation, just enough to keep the beer from feeling flat. For something this dark the body is lighter than I expected. No noticeable alcohol feel and at 6% ABV, I shouldn't expect any.
D: With a body this light I could probably put 3 of these away in one sitting, but not over a meal.
Overall this is a good representation of an American stout. It isn't extreme or unusual, but it's not supposed to be.
