"We're living in very, very strange and disconcerting times. We have more people living in poverty than in any time in the history of the United States of America."
Really? Moreso than in the days of 19th century mass immigration and industrialization? Are the figures based on sheer population or actual depth of poverty?
Sanders is just applying a redefinition of "poverty." 100 years ago "poverty" meant the children of Irish, German, and Italian immigrants working themselves to death in coal mines.
"Poverty" today means the children of illegal aliens are not eligible for government college tuition assistance.
