I whole hartedly agree and am proud to hear my president be brave and stand up and be strong and say it!


Lets not be afraid to stand for the principals our nation was founded on and so many of our best have died for!

Well, first he needs to implement his plan for "preventative detainment" camps, then he'll roll up the sleeves and get right on those trials for those people that aren't covered by the new and improved preventative detainment internments that are much more fair and principled because they were thought of by a guy with a D by his last name when he is shown on American Television. I'm pretty sure the tribunals are already more fair, because somebody elected somebody who said "change" often, so it must have changed. Especially after he suspended then restarted them. That always means the same as "New and Improved".

Those people should never have been put into those camps im the first place. Its the overiding principal I am happy with, and I understand that undoing the tangled mess the previous conservative administration left behind will take years and must be done slowly.

This quote was in relation to torture and was a sharp contrast to Cheney's speech that came just after trying to justify his conservative administrations policy regarding exempting certian individuals from basic American rights and international rules of law we have previously agreed to abide.

It's silly and cosmetic. Obama has a dose of reality, decides that "preventive detainment" is a good idea, and you call it the right way to do things... the "underlying principal" is just great with you... yup.

Only worship can go to this level of hypocrisy with a straight face.

They should never have been put there to begin with, and yet you are happy that Obama is implimenting this "preventative detainment"?

What? You can say that with a straight face?


He campaigned on a "Get us out of Iraq" platform, and has now committed more troops to Iraq & Afganistan.

He campaigned on the "Gitmo is wrong and evil" platform and is now doing the same thing.

He wanted to prosecute the people involved with and approving of torture, but when Nancy Pelosi becomes one of them he backs down.




And you call this change and you are excited about what he is doing?

Yeah, i'm not wildly optimistic that anyone is going to have a day in court.

The new Whitehouse seems to have a similar mindset to the Catholic Church as far as coming up with a million reasons why the past is better left buried forever.

I was going to ask what our "most cherished values" would be. And does this mean that there are values that we do not cherish? And will those be allowed to fall by the wayside?
