PHILADELPHIA, Feb 2 (Reuters) - President Joe Biden's plan to reshape the Democratic Party's presidential nominating contest faces its final test this week in a Democratic National Committee vote where officials from two key states staunchly oppose the effort.

Biden wants the DNC to oust Iowa as the first in the nation in the party's nominating calendar - a position it has held since 1972 - and replace it with South Carolina, a state with significantly more Black voters, and one that saved his 2020 presidential campaign.

South Carolina would be followed by New Hampshire and Nevada one week later, and then by primaries in Georgia and Michigan.

Agree. Iowa is irrelevant.

The idea that Iowa had to be the first primary state has always seemed ludicrous to me. Frankly, its caucus system sucks...and it is about as demographically unrepresentative of the United States as any state.

Either all primaries should be conducted at the same time...or the order should be rotated.

Iowa has nothing to do with national politics. An irrelevant state.

S. Carolina is too.

That is so cute. I'll bet the other kids in the sandbox think you are the greatest.

Iowa state law requires them to set their Primary date to be the first in the nation. I don't see how a DNC vote will change that.
