In an interview USA Today's Susan Page, Biden told her he "meant what he said" when he pledged to not pardon his son. Then he did a 180 and tried to justify pardoning his son in virtually the same breath.
His faulty reasoning--as if there's any other kind with Biden--was that his son paid his back taxes and that he had a drug problem at the time. Now, the only reason Bagman paid his back taxes was he got caught and was looking at way more prison time if he didn't pay them, and his use of drugs is just a lame excuse of no merit.
On the gun charge, Bribem said this, "Well, I don't even know whether they got straight on the signing of the form. But the point was, no one's ever been tried on that. Nobody. And they potentially put him in jail for X number of years for that. He had it for 10 days. Two days in his possession. No weapon, no bullets, no movement, no leave. And it got returned. And no one's ever been tried for that."
That is complete bullshit! It's a whiny excuse and a total lie. People have gone to prison for mere possession of a firearm, even simply being near or present where one is in the vicinity, for reasons like being a felon, having a domestic violence charge, or doing a small drug deal. Lying on the form is a chargeable felony in and of itself and the length of possession of the firearm is irrelevant.
Maybe Biden should check with his own ATF about that:

Adkison was scheduled to take possession of six firearms at the vendor’s store in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At sentencing, Adkison faces up to ten years in federal prison.
