Bill Maher: Republicans have decided ‘democracy is what’s wrong with America’

We fight, We win, Am Yisrael Chai
Bill Maher blasted the Republican Party Friday, arguing the GOP does not view democracy as “inextricably linked” with America in the wake of the 2020 election and the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

On his show “Real Time With Bill Maher” Friday night, the talk show host cited a series of Republican candidates and politicians who have made statements about restricting voting in America.

“Many Republicans have decided that democracy is what’s wrong with America,” Maher said.

The host argued the gap between the Democratic and Republican parties has grown larger and there was “more of a difference between the parties than there ever has been in American history.”

“Democrats, for all their flaws still see democracy as the essence of America — they see America and democracy as inextricably linked. They see one without the other as unthinkable,” Maher explained. “Republicans? Thinkable.”

GOP is opposed to democracy. Look at this forum, most conservatives do not want the US to be a democracy.

Reds use many ways to prevent American voters from exercising their rights. They repress the vote. They use caging. They simply delete them from the rolls. They change their precinct without telling them. They use industrial-strength gerrymandering. They use purging lists. They close polls making minorities wait in line for 10 hours. This is anti-democracy undemocratic behavior, what Trump calls winning.

FYI Trump has taken Republicans to fascism!

Is Maher back in the liberals good graces after saying this? Because he was falling out of favor with all his anti-wokeness talk.

Even on this board people talk about the need to protect our democracy in one breath and then in the next saying they want everyone they disagree with to die. It’s like “I want a democracy but I want no dissent or anyone around me who thinks differently.” Not exactly how I understood a democracy to function

Maher thinks he's opened minded but he's really narrow minded about certain things.
