Black cats are smart

That's cool.

Maybe I'm over thinking it or I spent too much time debating morality over on the Relgion and Philosophy subforum but I'm curious why a CAT (not known to be particularly social animals) would attempt to "protect" another member of it's "pack"(a concept cats dont' really have).

I could see a dog doing it no question. Pack animals, protect pack members to improve stability of society and confer a survival advantage to the members of the pack.

Wow....I just overanalyzed a Facebook Reel.

I need more hobbies.

Hard to anthropomorphize cat behaviour. It's not unambiguously clear to me if the cat was defending, or if it thought there was a fun game being played.

Family pets will defend their owners, probably because of the instinct of altruism, territorialism, and mutual cooperation between animals living in groups, colonies, packs.

I saw video of a cat run off a pit bull seemingly in defense of one of it's owners.

I had a cat scare off a moose.
