I thought the charges against Manafort and Gates stemmed from events that occurred before Trump was even a candidate. In fact, if I recall correctly, Manafort was working for the Podesta brothers to influence the Ukrainian election.

Isn't there an e-mail that says "the (Obama) White House wants to be kept informed" about Manafort's efforts?
