You know what I wonder? I wonder if this broke them up? It's not like they would announce a breakup. I know that if my bf talked about me the way he talked about her, I"d be really upset. He made her sound like a terribly unreasonable bitch. Now, he lost his job anyway. All because he gave her a big raise. All of this has got to put a big strain on any relationship.

Other than the relationship angle, I never really cared about this story. I am waiting for Gonzo's scalp. That is the one I want. I know this guy here had a lot to do with starting the war. But then he should have to fall on that war, not on this bs.

WASHINGTON - World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz will resign at the end of June, he and the bank said late Thursday, ending his long fight to survive pressure for his ouster over the generous compensation he arranged for his girlfriend.

His departure ends a two-year run at the development bank that was marked by controversy from the start, given his previous role as a major architect of the Iraq war when he served as the No. 2 official at the Pentagon

As for Gonzo: I don't think he's ever going to resign. I could be wrong. But, the only way he's gone is if he's impeached. I think Bush and Rove are protecting him. They're gonna stall to try to run the clock out. And the reason, Bush wants to keep Gonzo close to him is that - like Rove - Gonzo knows about ALL the crown jewels of the Bush regime. He knows every dirty little secret. And bush isn't about to let Gonzo out of his sight, or control.

Yes, he did try and blame his girlfriend for the whole thing. I can't believe that anyone would have any respect for these scummers.

I don't think Gonzo will resign either, but they are turning the heat so far up, you never know. It might become an untenable situation. I am hoping.

Come on, admit it: you're hoping that Dubya will treat Gonzo the way Wolfowitz treated his now-ex-gf, aren't you? Toss him under the bus to cut his own losses.

Whatever his many other faults, though, this seems to be something the Shrub is reluctant to do. Mostly, I think, because he doesn't want to be seen that way. Whatever, he's slow to jetison the passengers to the wolves in order to lighten the load.
 
I think Bush is actually afraid to jettison those he has depended on. I think actually being the president on his own scares the crap out of him.

I think it's because he has this very immature attitude of, "no one's going to tell me what to do" He's one of those guys, that if you want something out of him, you'd have to pretend you didn't want it. The minute he found out you wanted it, he'd refuse to give it to you.

How sad...I'm sorry but this 'we against them' is really getting to be a immature response..get out in the real world when you graduate from formal college and enter the real world of the 'College of Hard Knocks'...:pke:

and where did I mention anything about sex??? and no it has not been very long at all...if that is what ya are referring too! I just allowed my grandaughter to trade the Lebarron convertible I gave her for a 4x4 97 Dodge pu...( she minced no such things as you alluded too...just said she was a pu truck gal no mystery)so I was referring to material thingees...sorry it has been so long for you!...LOL and by the way...what did you mean referring to GW et al...are they missing something that you have found in life...?

I meant that he is a nasty bastard, and a bully, and when people around him say, Brown should go, he says, noone is going to tell me what to do, he stays. And he will keep Brown, or Gonzo, or whoever, no matter how crappy they are, just out of spite.

I never asked anyone for a "material thingee" in my adult life. And the type of person I am talking about, that is not the sort of thing they would withold. When we are talking about bush we are into mental and emotionally disturbed if not crippled, territory. No wonder I don't understand anything you post.

Yeah. I was pretty indifferent to this story. I did keep wondering if the girlfriend was qualified. I never read anything that said she wasn't qualified for the promotion, so I gave it a big fat yawn. Although it does highlight the down falls of cronyism and Bush's inability to pick people for positions that aren't controversial to say the least.

I think she's qualified. I think if anything, she really got screwed. I read that she worked there before he became President of the bank. Her career is shot now though.
