Budget Deficit Continues to Fall

Thursday, August 23, 2007

WASHINGTON — The federal deficit for 2007 will be somewhat lower than it was last year, "but the budget outlook for the long term remains daunting" because of steadily growing health care costs, the Congressional Budget Office reported Thursday.

The deficit for the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30 will be about $158 billion, or $90 billion less than the deficit recorded for 2006, the nonpartisan agency reported. The revised figure is about $19 billion below the deficit the CBO projected for fiscal 2007 on March 1.

Yes, me. I pay taxes. And what are those tax dollars going towards? Nothing. I could take my years pay, a can of gasoline, and match, and not waste as much money as fast as the government does.

And yet it has never gotten smaller, only larger, more centralized, and more controlling.

In spite of at least 3 republican presidents rhetoric.
and how many years of total republican control.

Before you come back on the dems, no they have not helped any either. However they have not been so hypoctital about it either.

I'm not coming back on either. I am simply pointing out a truth. It has been clear to me for a long time that the two parties are more alike than different.

The conservatives have cut taxes at the state level and raised taxes at the federal level. It's conservatives fault that state government are so weak now. Some states even have constitutional ammendments against raising taxes. Their schools and infrastructure are falling apart.

All 50 states... red and blue... conservative and liberal.... were in the black for 2007FY.

Yeah but it sounds so good to say all the states are in a free fall disaster and then blame it on the people in Washington. Can't we just pretend that the States are all suffering?
Sure, we can pretend that. Why not? If you just squint and look at those numbers they "sorta" look red.

Well since black is the absence of all colors, it should not ever show any color... no matter how hard you squint. ;)

*tangent alert*

.... since black is indeed the absence of all color, I have always been amused by the NAACP acronym. :)

and now back to our regularly scheduled topic....
