Bush Co.'s new spin on the war.

It seems to me Bush and his people have realized that this war has been a miserable failure and that it will be lost and go down as at least as big a mistake as VietNam.

Now they are going to do everything they can to blame Liberals. .. They have already started to compare it to Viet Nam, and we all know that Conservatives all have deluded themselves to think that VietNam was lost because Liberals made the U.S. Pull out.

Make no mistake about it, this war in IRAQ was lost when Bush pushed for it without justification and when he failed to heed the advice of his advisors about what a mess it would be. Now he is trying to give the Republicans some saving face and laying the groundwork for blaming the liberals who are going to force an end to this fiasco that he wont end himself.

Uhhh, we ended up winning the vietnam war.

We're bascially friends and trading partners with them now. And they are moving towards a free market, capitalist economy.

We won in the end by getting out! Same will be true about Iraq.

WE allow the slaughter of millions all the time, especally in Africa.
However, we do not always allow it by first entering, causing strife, then leaving. It is upon our direct action that such slaugher was allowed, not by our inaction.

Google some Pol Pot... You'll find out what I am talking about.

Do you think we should have stoped Pol Pot?

Should we have gotten into Rowanda?

Should we have done what we did do in the former Yugoslavia?

This is the same bogus analogy that Bush tried to make.

Our exit from Viet Nam is NOT responsible for Pol Pot...

We should not have entered without a declaration of war and a clear, not implied, threat to the US.

We won by allowing the slaughter of millions. I'd rather not win that way here.

Please.

The "slaughter of millions" happened in Cambodia. We weren't fighting a war in cambodia. That was unrelated to our war in south vietnam. In fact, we basically helped enable the Khmer Rouge to come to power, through our violence in southeast asia.

That and the vacuum we left behind. Taking no responsibility for destabilizing the region and the result of our departure doesn't make what we did right.

It is another example why the protection of the War Declaration is vital and that the War Powers Act has caused only debacles and idiocy, we must get rid of that inane law and refuse to act on any war without a declaration. We must return to the protections afforded us by the constitution rather than disregarding it.

I would never have pegged you for somone who thinks we should have stayed in vietnam, kept fighting, and indeed expanded the war to cambodia.

What happened in cambodia was unrelated to our withdrawl from vietnam. We weren't involved in a war in cambodia. Please stop making that linkage. That's beneath you. That's what rush limbaugh does.

It wasn't our departure from Vietnam which destabilized Cambodia, it was our carpet bombing of Camodia which killed hundreds of thousands of Camodians, which destablized it and allowed the rise of pol pot. Whom by the way we eventually supported.

No, I think we should have never gone in, for the reason that I suggested.

My argument is against the idiotic War Powers Act, not for staying in either region. I believe that we should take back the constitution rather than allowing the unconstitutional forays into idiocy.
